Changes to back hall workspace
In preparation for increased workloads in the summer, we're:
- Removing a section of the counter at the end of the hall
- Moving the 3 PCs over to fit on remaining counterspace
- Adding two of the large wood bookcases that used to be in the back soring room into this space
- Installing a smaller shelf unit on the wall next to the fire extinguisher
We'll used the extra shelf space for returns and Hold-It Locker overflow. Guidelines will be published prior to use in time for the summer season.
Where to park carts, and find empty ones, in YS Dept
- First choice parking spots - the end of the first two rows j non-fiction stacks, will leave empty carts for us and store full ones waiting to be sorted.
- Second choice parking spots - If those spots have carts with books on them already, put one cart behind the YS desk and/or one at the end of the bookcase behind their desk (on the left side as you approach the desk)
- Note - You can use these parking spots for large orange 3 tier carts too.
- Important! If all parking spots are full - ask a circ full-time staff member for direction, do not ask YS staff where to put them.
- Finding empty carts - Grab empty carts from the "first choice" spot first and then from near the windows by the front of the library (past the fish tank) if needed.
Filling YS Carts
- Fill 3 tier orange carts, used to YS van box returns, on both sides.
- Fill all other YS carts one row per level.
- Put pictures books on the top shelf of all carts.
- Further sorting is not required but, if workload allows, grouping like size and spine label types together on the lower levels is appreciated.
